Hugo Canoilas: Moldada na Escuridão

Hugo Canoilas has been invited by the Center for Modern Art to undertake a project for the temporary exhibition gallery at the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum. The exhibition and installation, named "Moldada na Escuridão” offer a sensory and immersive experience, building upon an exploration initiated by the artist in 2020 centered around the ocean and the life found in the depths, which represents one of the Earth's most widespread yet enigmatic territories. Canoilas employs this paradox to underscore the boundaries of knowledge and the intricate nature of Western culture's connection with the environment.
